Cottesmore Farm couple take on 2026–2027 role alongside new Ambassador Adam George
Showground Neighbours James and Kathryn Evans Become New Joint Presidents
Haverfordwest farmers, James and Kathryn Evans, have been unanimously elected as the new joint Presidents of Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society for 2026-2027.
James and Kathryn farm at Cottesmore Farm, directly across the road from the Showground and run a mixed enterprise of beef cattle, sheep, and combinable crops including corn and maize, in partnership with James’s parents, David and Elizabeth Evans.
James also operates a livestock haulage business and supplies hay and straw from England to local farmers. Kathryn works for Pembrokeshire County Council while also supporting James with the administrative side of the farm. The couple have two daughters, Becky and Ellie, who are both actively involved in the family farming business.
The Evans family have a long-standing involvement with the Pembrokeshire County Show. James has previously served as Chief Cattle Steward, while Kathryn has supported stewarding within the cattle section. Their daughters have also contributed, working part-time in the Show office during the summer and assisting with stewarding duties when needed - making it a true family affair.
James said the couple feel “extremely honoured” to have been invited to serve as Presidents of the Society this year. He added that they are looking forward to meeting people, representing the Society, and supporting the continued success of the Show, which he described as a key highlight in the Pembrokeshire farming calendar and an important showcase for both exhibitors and tradestands.
For their chosen charity this year, the Presidents will support Blood Bikes Wales, a 100% volunteer organisation providing a free courier service to the NHS, transporting blood samples, plasma, donated human milk, and other essential medical items across Wales. The charity has been chosen in memory of Andrew Rogers, a local farmer and close friend of James, who was tragically killed earlier this year while volunteering for the organisation.
During the Annual General Meeting of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society, held at the Pembrokeshire Showground, Mr and Mrs James Evans were confirmed as Presidents, with other officeholders also announced.
The 2026-2027 Ambassador role has been taken on by Adam George. Adam works as a construction project manager within the family business. Although not from a farming background, he has been heavily involved with the Young Farmers movement for many years and currently serves as County Vice-Chairman.
Adam said he is looking forward to meeting new people over the coming year, taking part in Society events, and helping to showcase agriculture in Pembrokeshire. He is also keen to further his understanding of the farming sector and gain more hands-on experience within the industry.
He takes over from outgoing ambassador Alys Owens, who did a great job during her time in the role, supporting Society events and helping promote agriculture across the county.
Outgoing Presidents Tim and Margaret Johns took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported them throughout their year in office, during which they raised £10,500 shared between Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society and RABI.
The Pembrokeshire County Show, the largest county agricultural show in Wales, will once again take place over two days this summer, on Wednesday and Thursday, 19th and 20th August 2026. The Society invites everyone to attend and celebrate rural life and agriculture in Pembrokeshire.
